A Singapore-flagged container ship, the GFS Pride, sank in the Strait of Hormuz after sustaining damage and catching fire amid escalating attacks on commercial vessels, Gulf Business reported. The vessel, which had a capacity of 2,824 twenty-foot equivalent units (TEUs), was operated by UAE-based Global Feeder Shipping.

According to Singapore's Maritime and Port Authority (MPA), the GFS Pride was struck by an unidentified projectile on October 13. All 21 crew members were safely evacuated with no injuries reported, according to Reuters.

Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) Navy claimed on October 14 that a vessel carrying more than 2,500 containers struck a naval mine while attempting to navigate an unauthorized route and subsequently sank after catching fire, Iranian state broadcaster IRIB reported. Gulf Business reported that the Iranian account has not been independently verified, while maritime security sources stated the ship was hit by an unidentified projectile.

The MPA also confirmed that another Singapore-registered container ship, the GFS Giselle, sustained hull damage after being struck by an unidentified projectile on October 14. The vessel reached a safe anchorage under its own propulsion with all 22 crew members reported safe. Singapore's maritime authority condemned the strikes, calling continued attacks on commercial shipping violations of international law.
