Singapore state investment firm Temasek Holdings announced on September 30, 2026, that it plans to establish its first physical offices in the Middle East. The firm expects to open offices in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates, and Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, during the first half of 2027, subject to statutory and regulatory approvals.
Temasek stated that the new locations will function as strategic hubs for its own operations and for several of its portfolio companies, some of which plan to co-locate in the facilities to pursue regional growth. The firm also said it plans to actively engage institutions in Qatar and other regional markets to pursue investment and partnership opportunities, while using the Gulf presence to access wider markets across Central Asia and Africa.
According to Temasek CEO Dilhan Pillay Sandrasegara, the Middle East is an important component of the firm's global network, citing alignment between regional economic diversification programs and Temasek's focus areas. Chia Song Hwee, CEO of Temasek Global Investments, was appointed chairman for Middle East and Africa effective September 1, 2026, with Ankit Khemka continuing as managing director for the region.
The planned openings will expand Temasek's global presence to 15 offices across 11 countries. As of March 31, 2026, Temasek reported a net portfolio value of S$518 billion ($405.5 billion).
