Sharjah Executive Council Issues Decision on Occupational Safety and Health System

The Sharjah Executive Council has issued a regulatory decision establishing the Sharjah Occupational Safety and Health System (OSHJ). The Sharjah Executive Council, chaired by Crown Prince Sheikh Sultan bin Mohammed bin Sultan Al Qasimi, issued a regulatory decision establishing the Sharjah Occupational Safety and Health System (OSHJ), according to the Emirates News Agency (WAM).

The decision introduces mandatory workplace and accommodation safety standards applicable to all government entities, private companies, employers, and workers throughout the emirate. The measure aims to improve worker protection, reduce industrial accidents, and safeguard business property and assets.

The resolution sets out specific legal duties for employers and designates inspection and enforcement authority to the Sharjah Police. It also establishes a legal framework for administrative penalties and fines in cases of non-compliance.
