International Monetary Fund Managing Director Kristalina Georgieva warned that elevated energy prices will likely persist even after Gulf conflict subsides, with Strait of Hormuz navigation risks hitting Asian and Chinese supplies. Concurrently, senior transaction bankers reported that energy security and AI infrastructure expansion are driving higher working capital requirements and shifting trade finance patterns across Asia.
The International Monetary Fund warned that corporate income tax policies generate cross-border spillovers through profit shifting, investment reallocation, and knowledge transfers. According to an analytical chapter of its October 2026 World Economic Outlook, debt-financed tax cuts raise global interest rates and crowd out investment abroad. The fund also found that a one percentage point corporate tax rate hike relative to foreign rates leads to a cumulative 0.5 percent of GDP drop in FDI inflows over three years.
The BlackRock Investment Institute reported that China is increasingly competing on quality rather than pure scale across advanced manufacturing and technology. In 2025, China represented 14.8% of global merchandise exports while its import share dropped to 9.8% amid deeper domestic supply integration. BlackRock maintained a neutral stance on broader Chinese equities while highlighting selective opportunities in physical AI and tech hardware.
Alibaba announced plans at the Apsara Conference to expand its data centre facilities in the UAE over the next 12 months to meet enterprise AI and cloud demand. Concurrently, Abu Dhabi Global Market unveiled the agenda for Abu Dhabi Finance Week 2026, which will host 75 events including dedicated bilateral forums with China. More than 300 financial leaders representing over USD 61 trillion in assets are confirmed to attend the Abu Dhabi gathering in December 2026.
