Abu Dhabi sovereign investor Mubadala Investment Company announced an official sponsorship partnership with the Rolex Shanghai Masters tennis tournament on October 1, 2026. The agreement represents Mubadala's first sports sponsorship in Asia and its initial partnership with an ATP 1000 tournament.
The sovereign wealth fund, which manages a US$385 billion (AED 1.4 trillion) global portfolio, has been investing in China since 2015. Mubadala maintains an on-the-ground presence in Beijing staffed by more than 30 professionals, with investments covering the consumer, healthcare, industrial, and financial services sectors.
Mohamed Albadr, Head of Asia for Private Equity at Mubadala, stated that the partnership provides a new platform to connect with partners and communities in China. He noted that the initiative aligns with Mubadala's regional strategy to link companies, capital, and sector expertise across Asia with the UAE and international markets.
According to the announcement, the initiative also includes the Mubadala Junior Aces tournament in Shanghai. Michael Luevano, Tournament Director of the Rolex Shanghai Masters, welcomed the agreement, highlighting Mubadala's long-standing international commitment to tennis and its established operational history in China.
