The Xposure International Photography and Film Awards 2026–2027 received over 22,000 submissions from 108 countries, with China, the UAE, and India leading participation. Judging is now underway ahead of the 11th edition of the Xposure International Photography Festival in Sharjah. Finalists and winners will be announced during the festival and featured in its exhibition programme.
The Indian government has condemned a projectile strike on the Panama-flagged oil tanker MT On Peace, owned by Dubai-based company Onex, in the Strait of Hormuz. Twelve crew members were injured, including 11 Indian nationals, and were evacuated to Oman for treatment. India's Ministry of External Affairs called for an immediate cessation of attacks on commercial shipping in the region.
The UAE and Dubai offer a one-year virtual work residence visa allowing foreign professionals employed outside the country to live in the emirate under self-sponsorship. Requirements published by federal immigration authorities include overseas employment proof and a minimum monthly salary of $3,500. The regulation applies to qualifying remote workers globally and is managed via federal and Dubai immigration channels.
Japan has introduced additional sanctions targeting Russia's shadow fleet of oil-transporting vessels, according to the Foreign Ministry. The measures restrict maritime services to 35 ships and impose export bans on four entities located in the UAE and Turkey. Restrictions also apply to 33 Russian-linked entities, nine individuals, and 102 export items.
