Etihad Rail and AD Ports Launch Fujairah-Abu Dhabi Freight Service

Etihad Rail and AD Ports Group have launched a direct rail freight service linking Fujairah Terminals with the Industrial City of Abu Dhabi. The dedicated train operates three times weekly across roughly 200 km, allowing customers to access customs clearance and cargo release on site at ICAD. The link is designed to lower emissions, reduce road congestion, and streamline movement of goods to Abu Dhabi markets.

Etihad Rail and AD Ports Group are launching a direct freight rail service connecting Fujairah Terminals with the Industrial City of Abu Dhabi (ICAD), according to The Maritime Standard. Operating three times a week, the dedicated freight line transports cargo approximately 200 km directly from Fujairah to ICAD.

The service extends the reach of Fujairah Terminals beyond the port gates, enabling shipping lines, freight forwarders, and cargo owners to book shipments directly to ICAD as the destination and clearance point for the first time. Customers can access inland customs clearance, inspection, and cargo release directly on site.

Combined with dedicated customs and inspection infrastructure, the service is designed to simplify clearance processes, reduce cargo handling requirements, and accelerate goods movement into Abu Dhabi. The setup allows importers, exporters, manufacturers, distributors, and logistics providers to receive cargo closer to warehouses, production facilities, and end markets.

According to AD Ports, the rail connection offers customers several advantages over traditional long-haul trucking, including more reliable transport schedules, reduced road congestion, enhanced scalability for high-volume freight movements, and lower carbon emissions.
