The Dubai Centre for Family Businesses, an initiative under Dubai Chambers, has launched a specialised training initiative titled 'The World of Directorship – Certificate in Board Directorship', Emirates News Agency (WAM) reported. Developed in collaboration with the GCC Board Directors Institute (GCC BDI), the programme is designed to strengthen board capabilities and raise governance standards across family-owned businesses.
The training is being provided to a cohort of 27 participants. Based on the GCC BDI Framework for Board Effectiveness, the curriculum aims to equip directors with practical tools, management skills, and international benchmarks to fulfill their duties efficiently.
The curriculum consists of four interactive modules followed by an assessment: Corporate Governance Essentials; The Effective Director; The Effective Board; and Board Finance, Accounting, and Corporate Reporting. Topics address governance frameworks, legal duties, board dynamics, strategy and risk, ethics, and corporate disclosures. Participants who successfully complete the modules and assessment will receive the Certified Director professional designation from GCC BDI.
Mohammad Ali Rashed Lootah, President and CEO of Dubai Chambers, stated that robust governance and board leadership are critical to the sustainability and long-term continuity of family enterprises. John Gollifer, CEO of GCC BDI, highlighted the essential role effective boards play in supporting organisational resilience and performance.
