Dubai and Abu Dhabi Stock Indices Decline Over 1.6% on Thursday

United Arab Emirates equity markets retreated broadly on Thursday, with both major bourses posting drops of over 1.6%. The DFM General Index fell 1.70% to 5,797.12, while the FTSE ADX General Index slid 1.66% to close at 9,794.54.

UAE equity markets experienced broad declines on Thursday, with both primary benchmark indices sliding by more than 1.6% by the close of trade, Business Upturn reported.

The DFM General Index in Dubai declined 1.70% to finish at 5,797.12. The index recorded a session low of 5,787.47 after having traded as high as 5,905.52 earlier in the day, spanning a range of nearly 118 points as selling pressure intensified.

In Abu Dhabi, the FTSE ADX General Index fell 1.66% to close at 9,794.54, dropping below the 10,000 mark. The benchmark swung across an intraday range of more than 205 points, reaching an intraday high of 9,973.01 and a low of 9,767.61.

According to Business Upturn, the simultaneous downturn across both exchanges reflected broad-based risk aversion across the UAE market, though no single catalyst was immediately identified as the primary cause of the retreat.
