China Eleventh Chemical Construction Company has secured two construction packages covering civil works and temporary site installations for Oman's 890-megawatt Duqm independent power project. The development is being undertaken by Coastal Power SAOC with an overall capital investment of $910 million, with commercial operations targeted for 2029.
According to an award notice issued by the Oman branch of Power Construction Corporation of China, the Chinese contractor won Package H for civil works under the engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) framework. A second contract covers temporary material warehousing, office facilities, ground works, monitoring, and lighting installations. Financial terms for the packages were not disclosed.
Coastal Power SAOC is being developed by a consortium comprising Korea Western Power, Qatar's Nebras Energy, UAE-based Etihad Water and Electricity, and Oman's Bahwan Infrastructure Services. Nama Power and Water Procurement Company previously awarded the independent power project as part of Oman's strategy to expand generation capacity.
The main EPC execution involves Chinese contractor SepcoIII, a subsidiary of Power Construction Corporation of China, alongside South Korea's Doosan Enerbility. Doosan previously disclosed that its EPC contract share was valued at approximately $385 million.
