China exported 23.92 gigawatts (GW) of photovoltaic modules in September 2026, marking a 44.2% monthly increase compared to August, according to data published by Shanghai Metals Market (SMM) and reported by Renewables Now.
The monthly export rebound was substantially supported by deliveries to the Middle East. Combined shipments to Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, and Turkey more than tripled during the month to reach 3.97 GW. Saudi Arabia accounted for the largest regional share with 2.9 GW in purchases, alongside significant export gains to the Netherlands and the Philippines.
Despite the September rise, total Chinese solar module exports for the first nine months of 2026 reached 184.66 GW, representing a 9.6% decline year-on-year. SMM stated that the September export growth was indicative of concentrated project cycles and inventory restocking rather than a long-term structural expansion in demand.
