Bureau Veritas (China) has signed a strategic technical consulting cooperation agreement in Shanghai with shipping operator Pacific Gas. The agreement centers on supporting the retrofitting of liquefied gas carriers.
According to Seatrade Maritime News, the collaboration will focus on developing technical routes, ensuring safety compliance, and executing commercial implementation for Very Large Ethane Carriers (VLECs) and dual-fuel gas retrofits. Pacific Gas runs worldwide shipping operations moving clean energy and associated gas products between major production areas and Asian hubs.
The companies stated that the initiative is intended to accelerate green maritime transitions and digitalization across the energy transport supply chain. Both entities noted that creating a long-term framework for gas carrier technology aligns with clean energy demand and geopolitical shifts across global and Gulf maritime trade routes.
