Asia Crude Oil Imports Rebound While China Raises Purchases From Gulf Producers

Asian markets are scheduled to import 23.96 million barrels of crude oil per day in September 2026, driven by Arabian Gulf supplies. China's foreign crude purchases reached 8.93 million barrels per day in August, a 6.2 percent increase month-on-month. Despite recovering maritime flows, total Asian crude imports remain 13 percent below pre-crisis baseline levels.

Asian markets are scheduled to import 23.96 million barrels per day of crude oil in September 2026, supported by shipments from Arabian Gulf producers, according to data published by Gulf News.

China, identified as the world's largest crude importer, increased its foreign oil purchases to 8.93 million barrels per day in August 2026, reflecting a 6.2 percent rise compared to July levels.

Tanker tracking data from Kpler showed a partial recovery in maritime energy shipments connecting Gulf suppliers to Chinese refining terminals, despite ongoing transit friction near the Strait of Hormuz.

Total Asian crude import volumes nevertheless remain 13 percent below baseline capacities recorded prior to recent regional tensions, while Chinese state energy firms continue collaborating with Gulf national oil companies to stabilize scheduled term supplies.
