Alibaba Cloud to Expand Infrastructure Capacity in UAE and Global Hubs

Alibaba Cloud announced plans to expand its data center capacity in key international markets, including the UAE. The announcement was made at the 2026 Apsara Conference in Hangzhou. The expansion will increase the company's global footprint to 31 regions and 107 availability zones.

Alibaba Cloud has unveiled plans to construct new cloud regions across Europe and expand data center capacity in key international markets, including the United Arab Emirates, according to Telecoms.

The strategic roadmap was announced at the 2026 Apsara Conference held in Hangzhou. In addition to the UAE, the infrastructure expansion targets facilities in Germany, France, Malaysia, and Hong Kong.

Following the international expansion, Alibaba Cloud's operational footprint will extend across 31 regions and 107 availability zones worldwide.

The company stated that the initiative is intended to meet rising enterprise demand for artificial intelligence workloads and scalable agent-native cloud applications.

AIIB Converts UAE Interim Hub into Permanent Regional Office in Abu Dhabi

The Beijing-headquartered Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank has converted its interim operational hub in the UAE into a permanent regional office in Abu Dhabi. Capitalized at $100 billion, the institution will use the office to anchor infrastructure and trade financing across Asia, the Gulf, and Africa. The move aims to facilitate cross-border transactions and strengthen ties between Chinese sovereign entities and GCC investors.
