UAE’s NMDC Group Inaugurates Heavy Cutter Suction Dredger Built in China

Abu Dhabi-based NMDC Group has inaugurated its new heavy-duty cutter suction dredger, Abu Al Bakhoush, in Nantong, China. The 148-meter rock-cutting vessel was constructed by Jiangsu Haixin Shipping Heavy Industry. The vessel expands NMDC's fleet to support international projects while adhering to environmental standards.

Abu Dhabi-headquartered NMDC Group held an official inauguration ceremony in Nantong, China, for its new self-propelled heavy-duty cutter suction dredger, named Abu Al Bakhoush.

The rock-cutting vessel was built by China's Jiangsu Haixin Shipping Heavy Industry Co. Ltd. According to the announcement, the ship measures 148 meters in length, reaches a maximum dredging depth of 38 meters, and is equipped with a 7.8 MW cutter alongside 30,040 kW of total installed power.

NMDC Group CEO Dr. Yasser Zaghloul stated that the GREEN PASSPORT-certified vessel expands the group's fleet of more than 170 vessels for international operations, while supporting the UAE's Net Zero ambitions.
