Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates are preparing to help Asian countries build up their oil reserves, according to a report by Nikkei Asia. The initiative is aimed at addressing vulnerabilities in Asia, a region that relies heavily on energy imports while historically maintaining limited strategic reserves.
Under the planned initiative, both Gulf nations are expected to expand exports to Asia and offer priority supplies during emergency situations, Nikkei reported. The effort also entails considerations for agreements to store crude oil directly at Asian locations to reinforce regional supply stability.
The initiative comes as energy security concerns prompt Asian markets to seek more reliable mechanisms against potential supply disruptions and global market shocks.
