Etihad Rail officially launched passenger services connecting Abu Dhabi and Dubai on September 30 with ten scheduled daily trips and a journey time of approximately one hour and four minutes (around 64 minutes), according to media reports tracked by NewsCord. The inaugural passenger train departed on Wednesday morning from Dubai's Al Yalayis station at 6:14 AM bound for Abu Dhabi.
Following exceptional early passenger demand, Etihad Rail introduced six additional train services for the weekend of Saturday, October 3, and Sunday, October 4. The additional services released more than 2,000 extra seats, with over 1,000 seats made available across three new trips on Saturday and another 1,000 across three new trips on Sunday.
The extra weekend departures were scheduled at 12:14 from Abu Dhabi to Dubai, 13:43 from Dubai to Abu Dhabi, and 16:43 from Abu Dhabi to Dubai. Booking for the supplementary services opened at 2:00 PM on Friday, October 2.
Reports also highlighted that the transit ticketing model integrates rail travel with Dubai's local transport network through a single unified QR code.
