The Central Bank of the UAE introduced enhanced regulatory rules on September 30, 2026, governing the operations of Islamic insurance (Takaful) providers, according to a report by Emirates 24|7.
Under the new framework, subscriber contribution funds must be held in an independent fund that maintains a separate legal personality and distinct financial liability from the operator.
The regulation mandates that any transfer of participant funds is subject to prior regulatory control to ensure policyholder protection. Furthermore, annual insurance surpluses must be reviewed by an appointed actuary and receive formal approval from the central bank before distribution.
