The autumn session of the 140th China Import and Export Fair (Canton Fair), held from 15 October to 4 November 2026 at the Canton Fair Complex in Guangzhou, served as a key procurement platform for Middle Eastern construction buyers, according to Middle East Construction News. The event's Phase 2, conducted between 23 and 27 October, focused specifically on building and decorative materials, sanitary equipment, furniture, and prefabricated facilities.

According to official UAE figures released by the Dubai Government Media Office, UAE non-oil trade with China reached US $49.2 billion in the first half of 2026, maintaining China's position as the UAE's largest trading partner. Total UAE non-oil foreign trade expanded 13.1 percent year on year to reach US $527.4 billion during the same six-month period.

Industry participants highlighted the strategic value of direct supplier sourcing amid regional cost pressures and evolving specifications. Khalid Al Mansoori, Managing Director of UAE-based Gulf Building Materials Trading, stated that the fair provides direct access to manufacturers, facilitating quality assessment and partnership development for projects across the UAE and GCC.

Procurement representatives also noted an increasing focus on energy efficiency and sustainable specifications. Organizers reported that green products comprised 26 percent of items exhibited at this edition, while newly launched products represented 23.2 percent, supported by more than 700 scheduled product launch events.
