Chinese state and commercial lenders have expanded their role as anchor debt financiers for major energy and infrastructure utilities across the Gulf region, EnterpriseAM reported.

Major regional firms including ACWA Power, Aramco, and the Abu Dhabi National Oil Company (ADNOC) are tapping Chinese syndications in conjunction with Western and regional financial institutions.

Among the transactions highlighted by the report is a $5.9 billion senior debt financing package supporting 15 gigawatts of renewable energy capacity. The facility is backed by Bank of China, China Construction Bank, ICBC, and China Minsheng Bank.

Additionally, the report stated that an unnamed UAE emirate government secured a syndicated loan facility valued at 1.8 billion yuan.

According to industry analysts cited by the publication, the trend is being driven by competitive lending costs and Chinese contractors securing major regional engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) contracts.
