BYD Yangwang to Debut Flagship Altior Saloon in UAE Ahead of China

BYD's ultra-luxury brand Yangwang has announced that its new executive coach-door saloon, named Altior, will make its world debut in the United Arab Emirates ahead of China. The model, known domestically as Dingyao and measuring around 5.5 metres, targets the ultra-luxury chauffeur-driven segment. Order books will open in the UAE first, with deliveries scheduled to commence before the end of June.

BYD's ultra-luxury sub-brand Yangwang has named its upcoming flagship coach-door saloon the Altior and confirmed it will make its global debut in the United Arab Emirates rather than China, AutoNext reported. Known during development under the internal codename Project HU, the model will be marketed in China as Dingyao. BYD released the first official international teaser on 27 October.

Hu Xiaoqing, general manager of Yangwang's sales division, confirmed on 21 October that the vehicle's world unveiling will take place in the UAE. While BYD has not formally announced an exact date or venue, CarNewsChina reported an unveiling in Dubai around 5 November, with pre-production cars recently photographed on vehicle transporters in China.

Chinese media reports indicate the Altior measures approximately 5,500 millimetres in length with a wheelbase exceeding 3,350 millimetres, though BYD has not officially verified these dimensions. In comparison, the current Rolls-Royce Ghost measures 5,546 millimetres with a 3,295-millimetre wheelbase, making the Altior roughly 46 millimetres shorter overall but with a longer wheelbase. Chinese media also anticipate a domestic price tag of around 2 million yuan (approximately 269,000 euros), which remains unconfirmed.

Yangwang already maintains a retail footprint in the UAE through distributor Al-Futtaim Electric Mobility, where the Yangwang U8 Arabian Edition retails for 659,900 dirhams (around 161,400 euros). A U8 unit has also entered service with the Dubai Police patrol fleet. According to AutoNext, order books for the Altior will open in the UAE before China, with the first vehicles scheduled to reach Emirati customers before the end of June.
