Update — October 28, 2026 10:11 AM CST: The UK Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office has updated its travel guidance for Qatar, warning of unpredictable regional tensions and risks of escalation. British nationals are advised to prepare for potential flight cancellations, airspace closures, and disruptions across the Middle East.
The UK Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office (FCDO) updated its travel advice for Qatar on 27 October 2026, warning that regional tensions across the Middle East remain deeply unpredictable with a high risk of sudden escalation.
According to the FCDO, Iran has stated an intention to target locations linked with the United States and Israel, including businesses, facilities, organisations, and institutions, following strikes and retaliatory attacks in the region affecting civilian and US military infrastructure.
The department advised British nationals in or transiting through the Middle East to prepare for possible flight cancellations, airspace closures, and travel disruptions. Travellers were urged to monitor local media for updates on airports and airspace, review departure plans, and keep travel documentation up to date.
Guidance also instructed travellers to stay away from security or military facilities, follow local authority directions, and remain indoors or take shelter in the event of an alert, citing falling debris from aerial intercepts as a primary hazard.
