Pre-production units of BYD's upcoming Yangwang flagship sedan, internally codenamed 'Project HU,' have been spotted on transport flatbeds in China amid preparations to ship them to the Middle East, according to CarNewsChina.
Yangwang Sales Division General Manager Hu Xiaoqing confirmed on October 21 that the brand will unveil its executive sedan in the United Arab Emirates. Sources familiar with the project indicated that BYD is targeting an official unveiling in Dubai around November 5, 2026, though the company has not officially confirmed the specific date or venue.
Photographs show the prototype featuring rear-hinged coach doors, an upright grille, split headlamps, rear cabin privacy glass, and a roof-mounted LiDAR unit. Earlier media reports estimated the vehicle's length at approximately 5,500 mm with a wheelbase exceeding 3,350 mm, while media price estimates exceed 2 million yuan (approximately 299,600 USD). However, BYD has not officially disclosed dimensions, specifications, or retail pricing.
BYD currently operates a distribution network in the UAE through Al-Futtaim Electric Mobility, where the Yangwang U8 Arabian Edition is listed at 659,900 AED (approximately 180,000 USD). Official powertrain details, vehicle naming, and sales timetables for the new executive sedan remain undisclosed.
