UAE-based renewable energy company Masdar plans to commission a 300-megawatt solar power plant and 75 megawatts of energy storage capacity in Uzbekistan's Kashkadarya region next year as part of a $250 million project, Trend News Agency reported. The project details were disclosed following a meeting on regional socioeconomic development chaired by President Shavkat Mirziyoyev and announced by presidential press secretary Sherzod Asadov.
Alongside Masdar's solar deployment, a 45 MW waste-to-energy project involving Chinese partners is nearing completion in the Karshi district. To support the regional grid, $70 million will be mobilized to build two major substations in Nishan and Kokdala districts for commissioning next year, alongside $150 million allocated for a 245-kilometer power transmission line.
The regional development agenda also incorporates Chinese manufacturing cooperation, with plans to localize the assembly of modern tractors and agricultural machinery from China's FM World facility and launch agricultural drone production. Six industrial clusters are scheduled to be established across the province by year-end, supported by an initial 250 billion soums (approximately $20.9 million) in state infrastructure funding.
