A tugboat travelling southbound northeast of Khor Fakkan port in the United Arab Emirates was struck by two unidentified projectiles on Sunday, October 18, according to the United Kingdom Maritime Trade Operations (UKMTO).
The British maritime agency reported that the vessel sustained damage but was able to continue on its route. UKMTO also reported one minor casualty, without disclosing the identity of the injured individual or the name of the tugboat.
UKMTO urged commercial vessels operating in the area to transit with caution and report any suspicious activity while official authorities investigate the incident. The agency did not identify the origin of the projectiles or the party responsible.
The incident follows a separate report by UKMTO on Saturday, when a commercial tanker was struck by an unidentified projectile approximately 68 nautical miles northeast of Al Jubail, Saudi Arabia.
