Saudi utility developer ACWA Power has signed a memorandum of cooperation with Mongolia's Sun Step Power to evaluate developing a renewable energy venture dedicated to power exports to China, according to an official statement reported by Eye of Riyadh.
The baseline plan establishes a target capacity of 4.5GW in clean power generation, supported by a 500MWh battery energy storage system. The framework covers the development of wind and solar installations along with the transmission infrastructure required to export electricity into Chinese energy markets or other mutually agreed destinations.
The agreement was signed on the sidelines of the 25th World Petroleum Congress and Riyadh Energy Week in Saudi Arabia. The signing took place in the presence of Saudi Minister of Energy Prince Abdulaziz bin Salman and ACWA Power Chairman Mohammad Abunayyan.
