The Beijing-headquartered Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB) has officially transitioned its interim operational hub in the UAE into a permanent regional office in Abu Dhabi.

Capitalized at $100 billion, the multilateral development institution established the permanent base to anchor infrastructure and trade financing initiatives across Asia, the Gulf, and Africa.

According to the bank, the transition is structured to deepen direct relationships between Chinese sovereign entities, GCC governments, and private-sector institutional investors.

Officials stated that the permanent Abu Dhabi base will facilitate cross-border transactions and channel institutional capital into critical regional infrastructure projects, reinforcing the UAE's role as a gateway connecting Asian capital markets with the wider Middle East and Africa.
