UAE Implements New Customs Regulations for Travelers
DUBAI, UAE – October 15, 2025 – The UAE has introduced new customs regulations for travelers, which include updated requirements for declaring cash and other valuable items. The new rules, which came into effect this month, are designed to enhance transparency and security at the country’s borders.
Under the new regulations, all travelers entering or leaving the UAE are required to
declare any cash, negotiable instruments, precious metals, or valuable stones
exceeding a total value of AED 60,000. The declaration can be made through official
customs channels, including the
iDeclare smart application.
The new rules also clarify the exemptions for personal belongings and gifts. Travelers
are allowed to bring in gifts with a value of up to AED 3,000, provided they are for
personal use and not in commercial quantities. The regulations also specify the
permissible limits for tobacco and alcoholic beverages.
The implementation of these new customs regulations is part of the UAE’s ongoing efforts to align its legal and regulatory framework with international best practices. The move is expected to enhance the country’s ability to combat money laundering and other financial crimes, while also ensuring a smooth and efficient experience for travelers.
